“Easeful survival” was my intention for October. “Surviving numbly” was the reality. I couldn’t pull myself out of nonstop scrolling. I didn’t eat enough vegetables, definitely drank more wine than I usually do, and maybe got in 2 Sculpt Society flows in a week. We survived. And as I read this, I also see that it wasn’t so bad. November looks a lot like October—work travel, evening events, filming TDS. My theme for the month is “offline.” I need to literally unplug—from my phone, my laptop, and anything with a screen. The irony is that I’m writing this from my laptop, with The Phantom Menace playing on the TV. After seeing how October’s plan was too ambitious, I’m doing less this month. A pared back morning routine, a reset ritual when I find myself scrolling too much, prioritizing protein and fiber in my meals, and keeping my hands busy with analog things. I use the Peloton app for my meditations and workouts. If you’d like to try it, this link gives you a 60 day free trial. (Even More) Minimum Morning Routine
Tiny Resets
November workout planI’m keeping it simple and short as I re-establish strength training. This plan travels well (all bodyweight, 15-20 minutes a day).
I usually get in a mile walk every morning when I drop the kids off at school. I want to do the same when I’m traveling (either going for a walk outside, or hitting the treadmill in the hotel gym. I’ve saved some of Camila’s 10 minute walks to my Peloton account: a girly pop one, a Kpop hike, a pop hike, and a pop queen walk. MealsThe days I start with a solid breakfast (30 grams of protein, 10 grams of fiber) are my best nutrition days. I’m making an effort on winning the morning with a good breakfast. Here are my go-tos:
When I’m traveling, I’ll request chicken sausage or turkey bacon, 2 hard boiled eggs, a bowl of berries, and cereal. I wish I could request a single slice of toast or a small cup of oatmeal (some hotels will accommodate it, some will serve up the huge portion). What I’m WatchingIt is exclusively Hallmark season. My dad and I watch as many movies together as possible, and will even watch the same show or movie separately and talk about it the next day. Here’s what we’re watching, and what we plan to watch
