July can be summed up as blissfully boring and emotionally seismic. highs & lowsI had a very chill birthday celebration. My husband took me out to lunch and to a local bookstore in New Hope, and my parents made my favorite treats (homemade vadas, mirchi bhajees, and pedas) served with Pol Roger champagne. Both of the boys settled into their camps, and Rho came home from a successful first year at sleepaway camp. It felt great to pick up my tennis racquet and play every week, and I’ve booked lessons and clinics to continue in New York. The biggest high, however, is the quality time I’ve had with my parents. I love our daily coffee breaks after I bring my dad home from PT, an evening glass of wine and some snacks, and even watching Brahma Mudi with them most nights. I didn’t see this as a low earlier, but I retreated from everyone outside of my parents, husband, and kids this month. I’ve struggled with anxiety this year, and withdrawing from big events and even small group dinners felt protective. My father, husband, and therapist have gently read me the riot act to get out of my own way. I’m aiming for a weekly friend date this month, and to attend a larger event without feeling panicky. what I read & watchedKPop Demon Hunters came out of nowhere to become our family’s favorite (both the film and the soundtrack). I can’t tell you how many times we’ve watched it, only that it’s not enough. I managed to shake myself out of my Innkeeper Chronicles’ rut and read some wonderful books:
The new Superman was the other best thing I watched this month. I’m excited for this new page in the DCU, and especially excited for Supergirl. what you loved (and what I loved sharing)
