Last week was a full one. It was full of connection, getting out of my comfort zone, and being out and ‘on’ more than I had in over a year. This week was a full one, but in a polar opposite way. After a brief anxiety spell on Sunday, I focused on recharging my internal battery beyond my usual routines. I slept way too late and woke up too early to finish Jo Piazza’s forthcoming book (smart, salacious, and un-put-downable). I simplified Taco Tuesday with Caroline Chambers’ baked tacos (using Impossible ground and Wegman’s Mexican riced cauliflower for the filling), and got to enjoy the meal with my family instead of shoveling down sad tacos made from the leftover ingredients, after everyone had been fed. When the kids’ school unexpectedly closed due to a water emergency, we enjoyed pizza night at Motorino (after finishing a day of Zoom school 😳), and I let the messes go during the day (but furiously tidied once the kids went to bed). I practiced Gentle Wednesday with an acupuncture session and a long walk in the park, listening to Katie Sturino’s forthcoming novel. I’m trying to find a balance between fully on and fully off weeks, especially as the kids wrap up the school year and preparing for summer. I think the best thing is to take it week by week, and to give myself two evenings in after a night out. We’re in Pennsylvania this weekend to celebrate my father and Rhaki’s birthdays. My wish for Mother’s Day is getting a quiet few hours to myself this morning (but I love these other ideas shared in Lindsey Stanberry’s post). How was your week? How are you taking care of yourself next week? Catch up on the latest posts: Over on Instagram, I shared my morning routine, what I read last month, and the Cassandras who warned us about the state of things. My interview with Abby Govindan went live, and I loved our conversation. I’m really proud of our first season of That Desi Spark, and hope you subscribe and watch our conversations. You can also get a peek inside our Pennsylvania home. I’m offering a 20% discount (for life) here on Substack, and I’ve lowered my subscriptions fees as much as Substack will allow me. I would be thrilled if you upgraded your subscription.
